Emergency Kit
A list of some key items to have in your Ferret Emergency Kit, which should always be on-hand and easy to access. Be sure that all perishable items are regularly replaced before they expire.
- Your Nearest Emergency Vet’s Contact Information (business card, print out, etc)
- Nail Clippers
- Small, sharp scissors
- Vaseline (100% petroleum jelly)
- 1 can of plain, canned pumpkin (100% pure pumpkin, NOT the pie filling)
- Syringes
- Eye dropper
- Styptic Powder
- NonStick Gauze
- Koban/Vet Wrap
- Q-Tips
- A bottle of water
- Oxbow Carnivore Care and/or meat baby food (Beechnut is a reliable brand with minimal added ingredients_
- Honey or Karo syrup
- Sterile Saline
- Rubbing alcohol
- SudoCreme or at walmart
- Spare puppy pad
- 1 tube unopened Bactroban or Mupriocin ointment (or Original Neosporin)
- Bonus: a non-chemical heat pack (e.g. a sock full of rice)
- Bonus: SubQ fluids (from your veterinarian)
